Karl Harrelson, our brand team member from Virginia and Sam Mix (Osprey associate marketing manager) will be attending Appalachian Trail Days in Damascus, VA this weekend (May 15, 16, 17). If you plan on coming out to the event be sure to say hello to Karl and Sam.

Damascus, Virginia is a small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains and is the gateway to the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. Every year in May, the weekend after Mothers day, there is a festival held in the Appalachian mountain town of Damascus, Virginia. Trail Days, the festival, celebrates the Appalachian Trail, the hikers, former hikers, and aspiring hikers who converge there each year.

There will be music, children’s games, an unusual parade, a hikers’ talent show, people-watching, bike rides, hikes, workshops, lots of food, and other family-friendly activities… only to name a few. This makes Trail Days one of the most popular small-town events in the State of Virginia!

Damascus is traversed by the Appalachian Trail, the Virginia Creeper Trail, the Trans-America National Bicycle Trail, the Iron Mountain Trail, the Daniel Boone Trail, the Crooked Road Musical Heritage Trail, Virginia’s Birding and Wildlife Trail, and lies within a short distance of hundreds of miles of other hiking, horse, and biking trails.
