Mountainfilm: Awareness Into Action Special Guests

Mountainfilm isn’t just a festival to showcase films; it’s a festival devoted to sparking a conversation. It’s an assembly of people who have come together to see what the human spirit can achieve.

That will be even clearer this year’s festival theme and special guests.

“Our theme this year is Awareness into Action,” Festival Director David Holbrooke said. “So we were particularly looking for special guests who can both motivate our audiences – engage and energize them – but also give them practical, hands-on help in actually becoming involved in critical issues. We want people to have much better tools for making a difference when they leave this year’s festival.”

Headlining the list of special guests is author and conservationist Terry Tempest Williams.

“Terry just embodies so much of what we are about at Mountainfilm,” he said. “Her insight into the times we live in is so thoughtful, but she’s also an amazing artist and a no-holds-barred advocate for ethical, environmental and social justice.”

Other guests that have been confirmed include Dan Austin of 88 Bikes, the Baffin Babes, photographer Paul Colangelo and National Geographic Society Explorer-in-Residence Wade Davis.
