Friday Round-Up: And The Winner Is…
Unless you’ve been living in a deep, dark cave… You may have noticed that there is a lot of cool stuff going on out there. So, we thought it was high-time we started rounding up some of our faves each Friday. Every month, we’ll be choosing a theme that fits with the Osprey lifestyle. Since we just wrapped our “Instead of driving, I…” contest, we’ve decided to pay homage to human-powered transportation for all of March. Welcome to the Osprey Friday Round-Up!
Last month, we asked our fans how they they got around — without driving — and we were flooded with awesome responses. So, without further ado, below, we’ve listed out the winners of the “Instead of driving, I…” contest. Congratulations to the winners! Watch out for a cool, new video on the topic coming soon. And to everyone out there who chooses to use their own power to get them from place to place: thank you for leading the way. Let’s keep it up!
“Instead of driving I walk, bike, bus or take the train where I need to go. I’ve learned that what I need I can carry and what I can’t carry I don’t need. I have a small bike that carries me and when I get to the bus or train I can fold up the bike and carry it aboard. I have a pack that’s big enough to carry what I need for a day and life really only happens one day at a time. I have enough time to get where I’m going and what I need to enjoy the trip. Why would I want to be in a box, looking out at the world when I can be out in the world instead?” — Kent Peterson
“Instead of driving, I step out my door to be greeted by a thermometer reading -40. Celsius, Fahrenheit, doesn’t really matter at this point. Hopping on my bike I cruise by a moose and her calf hanging out by the side of the road and get greeted by the sun rising over the Alaska range as I pedal into work appreciating that I live in a pretty cool place and discovering it is possible to break a sweat even at 40 below.” — Peter
“Instead of driving, I live life.” — Aaron Mauk
“Instead of driving I strap on my rollerblades (or snowboard in during winter weather) and have my husky pull me to my destination. Now all I need is an Osprey pack for him.” — Nate Sofie
“Instead of driving I use my Chevrolegs.” — Whitney Williamson Talbot
“Instead of driving, I cycle in circles around all the cars stuck in morning traffic.” — Marc Allain
“Instead of driving, I breathe fresh air, make fresh tracks, explore hidden alleyways; my feet push pedals, my heart beats stronger, I live life more fully.” — Serena Bishop Gordon
“Instead of driving, I throw on my kicks and skate.” — Marshall Schropp
“Instead of driving…I hop on my unicycle and book it! (Uphill, both ways, through meteor showers and lightning!)” — Alex Aries
“Instead of driving dilatorily, I stroll sombrely, traverse tranquilly, meander meaninglessly, perambulate precariously and trek truthfully wherever my spirit of adventure leads.” — Zach Roy
