Travel Tuesday: A Language a Day
Did you know that yesterday was International Mother Language Day? February 21st was deemed a celebration of multilingualism by UNESCO in 1999.
Now we all know that having at least a small grasp on foreign languages is helpful when traveling. Even a simple “hello” “goodbye” “thank you” and “where’s the bathroom?” will take you far. So for your quick language fix, Lonely Planet has put together a week’s worth of languages. With one guide a day you get a quick and dirty intro to seven different languages that you can print out, cram into your pocket and perfect your linguistic skills.
So hop on over and get the following:
- Day 1: Italian
- Day 2: Spanish
- Day 3: Portuguese (just in time for Carnaval)
- Day 4: Filipino
- Day 5: Turkish
- Day 6: French
- Day 7: Polish
