Fredrik Ericsson nears summit of K2 for world record ski attempt
Conditions permitting, Osprey Europe sponsored athlete Fredrik Ericsson will attempt to be the first person to climb and ski from the summit of K2. Last reports have Ericsson at an elevation of 8000 meters and planning a summit bid tonight (July 26th in the U.S.). Ericsson has been climbing K2, said to be the most difficult and dangerous 8000 meter peak, with no supplemental oxygen, sherpas, or high altitude porters so that he can ski the 3600 meters from summit to basecamp.
